I absolutely LOVED just chilling out with this game. Putting on a playlist/album and joining one of the multi-hour races to just race around the whole map was absolutely amazing.

Certified prude here, I would usually go for a base of a build for general survival on every difficulty: 1) stoic deck (muscle was fun, but I want to live) Medkit aced ("panic button") Hostage taker (so you don't go out like Cesar) Then I would use some from the list for "the fun part": 1) Inspire aced (if you feel like a good person that day) 2) Crits for concealment (low blow) 3) Crits for not being shot at (unseen strike) 4) 6 sentry guns (no medkits, don't get downed, it's a long way to full hp) 5) basic overkill (when all shotguns...) Some builds had a granade launcher, some good pickup guns for sentry, others did max crit flamethrower, others had dodge I don't even need... But you need a base to not die Also I avoid "body shot headshot" perk because it seems like an expensive crutch

My favorite little detail in this game is that taking damage is displayed as literal plot holes.

Whenever I was having a bad day I'd load up The Crew and just drive with my Nissan Skyline and it was so calming and Ubisoft took that away

I had a pretty old and slow PC back in 2015. when I bought the game, but it ran okay. The wild run update made it completely unplayable for me, the game would crash upon launch every single time.

It’s been almost 3 months and I still think about this game everyday, I wish I could go back despite the few issues I had with it. That specific racing game just hit different for me.

The main problem with The Crew and what killed it was it being online all the time.

The game could have been terrific if only the single player was stronger and the game wasn't riddled with glitches.

So now you got millions of people pay 60 or more at release then 8 years later all those people can no longer pay it do they get a refund? This is why live service games don’t work and I never bought the crew or the second one I mean there’s nothing more enjoyable then going back and playing an old favorite for me it’s cod 2 if you can find some friends to play with the multiplayer still holds up and the campaign was fun but yeah I’m kinda glad I never spent money on this game

"ex Eden Games developers" it all makes perfect sense now, TDU1 and 2 were quite special, and you can clearly see those developers influence when it comes to the map size and overall vibe of the The Crew

Seeing the visual of the 2014 game list just solidifies that year was the last one where I was an actual fan of what was coming out. I played watch dogs like no tmr same with AC ROGUE and even the crew on when I got bored or wanted to ride with friends.

The Crew was the first game i Betatested, it was a cool experience that shaped my life from then on. Now i'm a Game Quality Analyst and watching this felt like a slap of pure nostalgia.

I grew up as a car kid Mostly played racing games and watched car related stuff The crew was a big part of my life,i remember seeing the amazing cgi teaser like a day after it released i was hyped about it,unfortunately i wasnt able to play the game till like 2019 when i got an xbox one S(i also had a disk for the xbox 360 but it didnt work) Seeing such a game,all of this dissapear out of the blue,its sad but also scary to think about Im certain that this def isnt the last case we will see this happen

The crew 1 is one of my favorite game, definitely in my top 10 of games, I hope a solid programmer figures out a mod or something to enable me to play the game I paid for....

i suppose we need the game already installed to play whatever they will come up with.... and now we can't even download it... welp i'll have to check "somewhere" if you get what i mean, when they come up with something. loved the game ambiance, i got the The Crew 2 but haven't played it yet, but the first one felt better just from the comparison videos i saw. and those games i just want to roam around, doing the campaign is secondary for me because the game reminded me of FUEL, and i love to just drive to nowhere in this game. it's exactly why i love ETS2, i turn my brain off and just drive peacefully into the sunset

I really like when these retrospective style videos shine a light on communities keeping games alive, on that same topic, there's a community that does a similar thing with my favourite racing game, split second. They have a discord and play the game online even though the servers have been shut down for ages. I just love when people are so passionate about a game that they keep playing it even in spite of the studios that shut them down

Played this game so much with a friend, hundreds of hours, we must have done the whole map across as a roadtrip countless times. Ubisoft is dead for me.

I played The Crew for about an hour or two, thought it was alright... haven't played it since. I still have it installed on my Series X, gotta try it one day and see what happens if i try and play it.

I remember playing the alpha or beta whichever it was back in the day and ended up putting in only 50-100 hours or so since im not really a racing guy but i really did like this game the map was the main reason i even took interest in it…added it to my steam wishlist sometime last year since i hadnt played in quite some time on my xbox since i switched to pc in 2020 but now its gone and its definitely sad..plenty of long distance drives on there but now i barely have 2 hours in the crew 2 it just dont hit the same smh

I cant believe the first one is better than the second one, they should've scaled up the map size and added more cities and towns that were excluded previously, I hate the fact that they are focusing more on the festival aspect and everyone being friendly nowadays instead of doing proper missions and earning respect in all of the states by gangs. RIP the crew

12:08 - I used to record hour-long videos back when I played The Crew 1 and I can see that sometimes I'd come across someone and you could drive with them for 2-3 hours. There was a text chat and probably also voice chat but they were both in the background much of the time. It was nice. I tried the second game and didn't like it, maybe it was how it felt to drive..Or the festival-esque treament it was given. I barely paid attention to that in Horizon, but I think it was just slightly worse in Crew 2.

Back before I had a proper PC that could handle anything more than Minecraft most of the gaming videos I watched were the crew. I loved the idea of taking a classic 60s muscle car and turning it into a monster off-road beast and then driving it from Miami to New York. Also Pro Street is the superior car festival aesthetic.
